STORIES INTERNATIONAL ADDS EMMY-WINNING FILMMAKER MARK APICELLA TO GROWING CREATIVE MANAGEMENT CLIENT ROSTER

STORIES INTERNATIONAL, INC., the U.S. arm of STORIES LLC, a joint venture production company of iconic video game brand SEGA and Hakuhodo DY Group, seventh-largest ad agency worldwide, has signed filmmaker Mark Apicella as a client of the company’s creative management division.

Apicella is an Emmy winner and five-time nominee for JAY LENO’S GARAGE (NBC.com), where he served as producer and editor for nearly six years, two-hundred cars, and over four hundred episodes.

He has since moved into the commercial world—directing, producing, and editing branded content for distribution on TV and the web for numerous clients including New Balance, Capital One, Speed Stick, National Geographic, Discovery, Tostitos, and KFC. His work has been seen by millions online and broadcast internationally in over thirty countries.

Also a writer and director, Apicella began his career with his graduate thesis film SALVATION, TEXAS, “the gold standard for a student film” (Film Threat). His film BETWEEN BLOOD AND SAND was awarded the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Grant for Science on Film.

“We are thrilled to be working with such a unique and talented filmmaking voice as Mark. His background in digital, branded entertainment, and film makes him uniquely suited to excel in today’s marketplace as a filmmaker and creator,” explains Evan J. Cholfin, Head of Development and Production at STORIES INTERNATIONAL.

Tomoya Suzuki, STORIES’ President and CEO, elaborates, “Mark brings the excellence of Hollywood storytelling to a new age of content marketing and filmed entertainment. We welcome him to our family.”

Mark earned an MFA in Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  He is currently developing several feature, television, and web projects with STORIES.
