BURNING SANDS WRITTEN BY STORIES INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT CLIENT CHRISTINE BERG WILL WORLD PREMIERE AT 2017 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL IN U.S. DRAMATIC COMPETITION

PARK CITY, UTAH – BURNING SANDS, one of five independent films financed this year by Netflix, written by Christine Berg and director Gerard McMurray (a producer of FRUITVALE STATION), will have its World Premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival as one of 16 films in U.S. Dramatic Competition. Following its premiere, the film will be available on Netflix in more than 190 countries.

The story revolves around a traditionally African American fraternity during Hell Week, where a pledge is torn between honoring his code of silence or standing up against the violence of underground hazing.

Berg, born in Thailand and a U.S. Army veteran, was a participant in the 2013 Military Veteran Writing Retreat at the Writer’s Guild of America. She earned an M.F.A. in Film and Television Production from The University of Southern California and a B.A. in Cinema Production from San Francisco State University.

Berg and her writing partner, Simon Shterenberg, are managed by STORIES INTERNATIONAL, INC., the U.S. arm of STORIES LLC, a joint venture production and literary management company of iconic video game brand SEGA and Hakuhodo DY Group, seventh-largest ad agency worldwide.
