Clara Aranovich is a filmmaker and outdoorsperson based in Los Angeles. She studied Creative Writing at Dartmouth and Film Production at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She hails from the Bay Area and is the daughter of a Chilean market researcher and an Argentine physicist. Her latest short film, PRIMROSE, was filmed in Alaska and premiered in competition at SXSW Film Festival before going on to have a robust festival run that included the Flux Screening Series at the Hammer Museum and eventually landing online as a Vimeo Staff Pick and distributed short film on NOWNESS.com. Her commercial client list includes Major League Baseball (for whom she is the first woman to ever direct a commercial since its inception), Toyota, Milk, JCPenney, C3 Energy, Microsoft, Chevrolet, LG, among others. She is known for being a hands-on/active director who has traveled from the tiniest island nation of Tuvalu to the heights of Denali for her work. On the features side, she is a three-time finalist for the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab and, a Nicholl Fellowship Quarterfinalist, and is repped by CAA and 3Arts. She was the lead producer of the recent James Franco film, YOSEMITE, which was the closing night film of Slamdance. She is also the Media Director of a 501(c)(3) non-profit theater company and arts collective, New Guard Theater Company.
